2016 - 2020
Music Visuals
Visualizations, teasers and intros
Between 2016 and 2020 I made visualizations, teasers and intro animations for Bossfight, Monstercat, meganeko, nanobii, Sound Remedy, Dex Arson, Chantaro, Jan Dolanský and others, plus a lot of the cover art you can find in the gallery.
It started with an intro animation Bossfight used as branding for their videos. That grew into the visuals for Elevatia, the Heks EP and its teaser, Nock Em and a run of remixes. Subside with Ephixa came out on Monstercat, and I made the special versions for Bossfight's and Ephixa's own channels. In 2018 I made the teaser animation for Bossfight's Work, and the visuals for Falcon Funk and Bossfight's Comeback, animating the cover art. Monstercat's release of Comeback runs that animation in its background.
For meganeko I animated the album videos for Nascens and Eclipse, and built a visualization suite he kept using for later uploads. One of those is The Cyber Grind from the ULTRAKILL soundtrack, which has passed 22 million views. Bossfight's Nock Em isn't far behind at over 11 million.
Sound Remedy commissioned a fully custom visualization template for his YouTube channel in 2016. For nanobii I made the visualizations for his first self-released EP Love Songs, a teaser for the album Sunshine Express and the video effects for Digital Heart. Chantaro got a complete audio visualization suite for his radio show, Universe Radio. For Jan Dolanský I made the full animation for the Endless Inside soundtrack, animated and rendered in Unity in two days.
And just for fun, I made a video for zYnthetic's Killing Floor 2 Krampus Christmas soundtrack on my own channel. At 1.3 million views it's still my most viewed upload.
Most of the previews above are from my channel. The full releases live on the artists' channels:

2017
Chantaro Universe Radio
Visualization suite for a radio show
For Chantaro's radio show, Universe Radio, I built a complete audio visualization suite. I'd wanted to make a unique, dynamic and customisable set of visuals for the show for quite some time, and it ended up covering everything from the intro sequence to a card for every track that plays.
Most of the animation was built in Blender and composited in After Effects, and rendering all the resources took almost an entire week. Episode 37 from June 2017 shows the whole thing in action.
Nekodrop
Server network
Nekodrop was my own little server network. Its landing page asked a master server for the list of machines in the network and showed which of them were up, with a drop rippling out across the background every time it pinged. The network has since run its course, but the landing page source is still on GitHub.
Comrelay
HTTP command relay in Perl
Comrelay is a small command line HTTP and HTTPS server written in Perl. You define routes that each map to a command on the server, and a POST request carrying the route's secret runs it. That makes it a handy target for things like GitHub webhooks, and it sat behind a proxy on the Nekodrop servers.
2016
Mavulp
Development collective with Jokler
Mavulp was a small development collective Jokler and I ran, with Hivecom and roflbox among its projects. Its site launched on October 28, 2016. I built it with Sitegen so members could publish by writing Markdown pages, and kept it light enough to serve from a Raspberry Pi left over from 2013, when Hivecom was still called Hivemind.
2015
Meganeko - boy irl girl url - Visualizations
Album visualizations
In March of 2015 I teamed up with the electronic music artist Meganeko to provide him with the visualizations for his album release of "boy irl girl url". The visuals were done in Adobe After Effects CS6. My main job was to come up with some simple and slick visuals for each of the tracks in the album. The outcome speaks for itself and can be seen above.
LOVEConsole
Debug console for LÖVE2D
An in-game debugging and command console for the LÖVE2D framework. It runs your own commands as well as plain Lua, and an overlay counts the warnings and errors printed to it so nothing slips by while you test.
2014
Tradrec
Electronic music label
During the third quarter of 2014 I co-created a music label known as Tradrec (formerly "Traditional Records"). The group consists of music artists and is willing to highlight and feature new and upcoming artists willing to go the extra mile for their work. Tradrec itself specializes in electronic music in form of electro house, drum and bass, ambiance and other more abstract genres.
Since the middle of 2015 I am the official owner and manager of the label and have made a massive amount of changes to its general structure starting with the name. The label has come quite a ways since it was founded and is set to go even farther. It has attracted a good amount of artist of which a few have been accepted as official members of the group:
Visual Snow
Logo, intros and video editing
During the start of 2014 I assumed the role of creating a logo for the German band Visual Snow. After seeing what I had done for them they asked me if I could also possibly create an animated opening for their music recording videos that go with each of their songs. Since then I have also taken over some of the editing work for their videos, matching up the video recordings to the music of the commercial song, creating the illusion that they are playing the song live within their videos.
In the Dark
Ludum Dare 29 game
In the Dark is a WebGL based game made for the Ludum Dare 29 competition (2014) and is based on the theme of 'beneath the surface'. The gameplay mainly revolves around the principle of the player descending through the ground every few moments moving from one randomly generated level to another. While passing through the ground's layers and levels the player has to fight the evil that resides beneath. The player's only help is a strange glowing light that helps him see through the mist.
In the Dark was written in JavaScript and uses the Three.js library.
Campdown
Bandcamp downloader
Campdown automates downloading tracks, albums and whole discographies from Bandcamp. It's a Python command line tool on PyPI, so pip install campdown is all it takes. It only grabs the same 128kbit/s streams Bandcamp already plays in the browser. It just saves you digging through each page's code for the file.
LÖVE2D Fluid
Fluid simulation for LÖVE2D
A real-time 2D fluid simulation for LÖVE2D. It started as a school project I picked for myself, with the goal of dropping fluid particles into a 2D game without eating the performance the rest of the game needs.
2013
Hivecom
Gaming community since 2013
Hivecom is the gaming community I started in 2013 together with Jokler and Trif. It began as Hivemind, a group of gamers and developers with a TeamSpeak server that also hosted the Cobalt IRC community, running on a local machine. Later that year the demand for a better connection and round the clock uptime moved us to a dedicated TeamSpeak server from Fragnet.
After the first Hivemind page I built the PHP site, wired into our TeamSpeak server and into Steam and Discord. I drew the logos and later made a TeamSpeak theme to match. At the time I covered the server and domain costs while Jokler kept the Raspberry Pi running the website online, and the server grew to around 200 registered members, from New Zealand across Europe to North America.
Hivecom is still going, and it looks nothing like it used to. Today's hivecom.net is an entirely new Nuxt and Supabase app, built in the open at hivecom/hivecom.net. The old PHP site is still on GitHub.
Strikewatch
Ludum Dare 27 game
Strikewatch is a top down minimalistic shooter with survival based game play. The game focuses around a timer which will steadily decrease whenever the player is not in a so called zone. If the timer reaches zero, the player is met with their fate. On top of that, the player has to fight their way through the ever increasing waves of enemies while always keeping track of their time and ammunition.
Strikewatch was originally created for the Ludum Dare 27 game jam (2013) under the working title of Timebullet. Since then it has come a long way but it still plays the same as the original game but with a huge set of improvements and additions.
- Fast paced shoot 'em up gameplay with clean visuals.
- Wave based game play with the difficulty increasing over time.
- Time attack based resource management.
- Source code - Modify the game to your own liking.
- Particles!
Strikewatch was written in Lua and utilizes the DaisyMoon engine by Oxeye Games.
Indestructible Phoenix Team Intro
Blender intro animation
During the summer of 2013 I made a video intro for the Indestructible Phoenix Team. The main goal was to provide them with a high quality opening for their own videos and recordings. Since then it has been widely used within their gaming montages.
The opening video itself was constructed and fully rendered in Blender with only the final explosion scene having been made in Adobe After Effects CS6. The final render was however done with Blender's Cycles rendering engine creating the final high quality and professional look of the whole intro.
Colorblind
Ludum Dare 26 game
Colorblind is a top down shooter I made for the Ludum Dare 26 game-jam (2013) within 24 hours. The game is a down to the basics shooter with the only goal being to survive for as long as possible against waves of oncoming enemies. Through the course of the player's game the scene fades in and out of color depending on the player's progress and skill.
The game was written completely in Lua and was made utilizing the LÖVE2D framework. Since it was one of my first game projects it generally lacks content and more complex game play but it is still fun to play nevertheless.
